Sacred Season 2026: 21 Days of Prayer, Fasting, and Giving at Overflow Church

Overflow Church is entering a Sacred Season: 21 intentional days of prayer, fasting, and giving. This season is rooted in the words of Jesus in Matthew 6, where He teaches, “When you pray… when you fast… when you give…” Not if. When.

A Sacred Season is about alignment. It’s about putting God first and allowing Him to set the order for everything that follows.

What Is the Sacred Season?

This Sacred Season is a focused time for our church to seek God together through spiritual disciplines that Jesus assumed His followers would practice. Prayer aligns our hearts. Fasting sharpens our sensitivity. Giving establishes lordship. When these are practiced together, clarity and direction follow.

How We Are Fasting

This is a fast all can participate in.
(If you are elderly with health concerns, please consult your doctor. We also encourage pregnant women not to fast.)

We are fasting daily from 6am to 6pm.
During fasting hours, remain hydrated with water, coffee, or tea. You may eat normally outside of this window.

Even if you cannot fast, everyone can pray.

It’s important to remember: fasting without prayer is simply abstaining from food. Prayer is what gives fasting its power.

Why Prayer Is Central

Prayer is the engine of this season. During Sacred Season, we are gathering daily and weekly to pray together as a church.

Morning Prayer (Monday–Friday at 6am on Zoom)
Each morning prayer call will include a practical, short teaching on how to hear the voice of God. These moments are designed to help believers recognize God’s voice, grow in spiritual confidence, and walk with clarity.

Thursday Night Prayer (7pm–9pm)
Every Thursday during Sacred Season, the church will gather for extended prayer. Come and go as you are able during these two hours.

Sacred Sunday and First Fruit Giving

Sacred Sunday takes place on January 25.

On this Sunday, we are inviting the church to come dressed in their finest and bring God their best. We will be receiving a First Fruit Seed, given above and beyond regular tithes and offerings.

In Deuteronomy 26, the people of God brought the first of their increase to sanctify the rest of their year and their harvest. We are doing the same as an act of faith and honor.

Following service, we will share lunch together as a church family.

How to Participate

This Sacred Season is not about perfection. It is about priority.

Give God your first time.
Your first attention.
Your first obedience.
Your first seed.

When God is honored first, everything else finds its proper place.

If you would like to hear the message that explains the heart and purpose of this season, listen to “Sacred Season | First Things First.”

We invite you to join us as we seek God together and allow Him to align the rest of the year.
